GM, Slate

This General Manager (GM) has overall responsibility for Slate, one of InsightSquared’s two main products. Slate is the powerful report builder that complements InsightSquared’s other product, a suite of prebuilt analytics. The Slate GM’s responsibility is cross-functional and includes marketing, sales, development and customer support for the product. These roll up to revenue and retention metrics for which the GM is the ultimate owner.


  • Marketing: oversight and collaboration with our Marketing team to generate awareness and upstream pipeline. This includes messaging, target personas, helping create campaigns specific to Slate, and evangelizing the product at industry conferences.
  • Sales: overall ownership of the revenue metric for Slate, including both new sales and renewals. The GM will manage dedicated Slate BDRs (business development reps) for pipeline qualification as well as have oversight of AEs (account execs) and AMs (account managers) for closing or renewing deals. The Slate GM will also directly participate in closing significant deals.
  • Product: the GM will work in conjunction with a dedicated Slate Product Manager and engineering team to set long-term roadmap, prioritize new feature development, and triage incoming customer requests.
  • Services: the GM owns renewal revenue and thus also will have oversight of post-sales customer onboarding, support and satisfaction for the Slate product.
  • Strategy: competitive analysis, pricing, partnerships, planning, and all other aspects required to navigate a product successfully in the market.


  • Previous extensive experience on either the build (product) or sell (sales/marketing) aspects of a b2b SaaS product.
  • Confident, clear communication skills to audiences both internal and external, both junior front-line and senior executive.
  • Proficiency in data-driven business analysis, both to manage this product as well as to advise customers in their own use of Slate.
  • Solid technical comfort in order to understand technical feasibility, communicate customer needs, and assist in setting product roadmap.
  • High wattage and aptitude for product strategy. MBA preferred but not required with enough relevant experience.
  • Entrepreneurial, GSD (Get Stuff Done) attitude.
